Good to know
Is there a usage cap during the free window?
There’s no daily cap on electricity used during the Free 4 window. Free 4 is designed for personal and household use, and usage is subject to our Fair Use Policy. If usage is much higher than we’d reasonably expect for a residential household, we may move you to our Standard Retail Contract.
What are my rates outside the free window?
Outside the Free 4 window, your usual plan rates apply. Your exact rates will depend on your tariff, state and network. To see the rates available for your address, get a quote.
When can I start using free electricity?
If you're new to OVO (Hi 👋), we'll email you to let you know once we've started supplying your home. If you’re awesome and already with OVO (nice 😎) and switch from another plan, your welcome pack will show the date your new plan starts, which is typically the following day.
Do I need a smart meter?
Yes. You’ll need a smart meter so we can measure when you use electricity and apply the Free 4 rate correctly.
